    Q:Where is Bimini located?
    A:Bimini is the closest island in the Bahamas and is only 49 nautical miles from the Miami-Dade County coastline. Coordinates are 25 degrees 43.34 North/ 79 degrees 17.45 West.

    Q:How big is Bimini?
    A:Bimini is actually 2 islands, with South Bimini where the airport is and North Bimini, where the Big Game Club is located in Alice Town where most of the commercial and government businesses are located.

    Q:What is the temperature in Bimini?
    A:In the winter the day time temperatures are in the upper 70s during the day and lower 70s at night, and in the summer the upper 80s during the day and lower 80s at night.

    Q:What form of identification do I need?
    A:All visitors must have a valid and up to date passport. No visitor may enter the Bahamas with just a birth certificate and driver’s license. When you arrive by plane or boat you will need to clear Bahamian immigration and customs.

    Q:Which airlines serve Bimini?

    Q:How do I get from the airport to the Big Game Club?
    A:Once you clear immigration and customs there are taxis at the airport that will take you to the ferry dock on South Bimini , you then will board a ferry that will drop you off at the Big Game Club. The cost of the taxis by land and water ferry is $8 per person (prices subject to change). Gratuities are always welcome. For groups we can offer exclusive transportation which can be arranged by our reservation office.

    Q:What is the depth of the entrance to the harbor?
    A:Generally, depending on tide, is between 8 and 12 feet in depth. You can call the Big Game Club on the ship to shore radio on Channel 9 to get advice and directions before you enter the harbor. The harbor has newly placed markers at the entrance.

    Q:If I am coming over by boat, how do I clear in Bimini?
    A:Once you enter the Bimini channel you must raise your “quarantine yellow flag” and you can dock at the Big Game Club. The Dock Master will give you the proper paperwork, which must be completed, and then only the “captain” of the vessel needs to go to customs (which is a 5 minute walk) to clear the boat and the passengers. The passengers must remain on the boat until the vessel has been cleared.

    Q:Is there fuel at the Big Game Club?
    A:Currently there is no fuel at the marina but there is a fuel dock at the Blue Water Marina which is only 5 minutes away.

    Q:What kind of currency is there?
    A:The Bahamas has its own currency which is on par with the US dollar but everyone accepts US currency. Make sure that you use all of your Bahamian money before you leave island as currency conversion in the US is difficult with any currency.

    Q:Do you accept credit cards and traveler’s checks?
    A:The Big Game Club accepts Master Card, Visa, American Express and traveler’s checks (with proper ID). They do not accept personal or company checks.

    Q:How big is the Big Game Club?
    A:The Big Game Club is located on 3 ½ acres, has 51 guest rooms and 75 slips.

    Q:Are there connecting rooms?
    A:Yes the resort has many connecting rooms that have either king bedded rooms connected to double queen rooms, or double queen rooms connected to double queen rooms.

    Q:Is there air-conditioning at the Big Game Club?
    A:Each guest room has an individual air-conditioning unit that is controlled by you on a remote for your own comfort.

    Q:Do the guest rooms have balconies?
    A:All of the guest rooms either have a balcony or a patio (ground floor) with furniture so that you can “laze” and enjoy the view.

    Q:What kind of electrical power is there?
    A:The Bahamas uses the same electrical power as the USA, with 110 volts.

    Q:What kind of bathroom amenities are in the guest rooms?
    A:The bathrooms all have soaps, shampoo, conditioner, shower caps, hair dryers and of course good quality linens.

    Q:Are there laundry facilities at the resort?
    A:There is a coin laundry located only 10 minutes away from the Club that is open from 7am till 5pm Monday through Saturday.

    Q:Are there safes in the guest rooms?
    A:Yes there are safes in the guest rooms that can fit a normal laptop computer. Each guest can program the combination themselves. There are also safety deposit boxes at the Front Desk.

    Q:Are there fire systems in the hotel?
    A:Each room has a smoke detector that is wired into the Fire Alarm system. All of the public areas have smoke detectors or pull alarm devices in the un-likely event of an emergency. There is security at the property 24 hours a day.

    Q:Is there medical facilities on island?
    A:Yes there is a clinic that is a 10 minute drive from the Big Game Club. For major emergencies, patients are either flown to Nassau or back to the US.

    Q:Are there TVs in the guest rooms?
    A:Each room has a 24″ flat screen and a DVD player (there are 34 channels on the TV system). There is also satellite TV at Bimini Seafood Company for sporting events and other special shows.

    Q:Are there telephones in the guest rooms?
    A:Yes there are and can be used for dialing in the resort and local calls. Currently there are no long distance lines from the guest rooms. In an emergency, the Front Desk can arrange to make a long distance call for you.

    Q:Is there WIFI access at the Big Game Club?
    A:Yes there is WIFI service through out the property and the marina. There is no charge for the service.

    Q:Is there a business center on the property?
    A:The Front Desk can arrange for you to use a computer, printer and there is a fax machine in the office.

    Q:How do I get around the island?
    A:There is the Bimini Tram that runs down the King’s Highway during the day or you can rent a golf cart (4 or 6 seaters), which can be arranged in advance or at the resort. Please remember that they drive on the left side of the road in the Bahamas.

    Q:Are there taxis on island?
    A:Yes there are several taxis on island that can transport you around. The Front Desk can make these arrangements for you.

    Q:Are there other activities other than fishing and diving?
    A:There are many things to do including glass bottom and sunset cruises on the “Bimini Blue,” great beaches nearby, historical tours of the Bimini Museum and the Dolphin House, tours to the famous “healing hole,” tours of the World Famous Shark Lab, the Bimini Nature Trail, Bimini Boat Building by Ansil Saunders, kayaking, windsurfing and many other activities.     Q:Is there a dive boat at the Big Game Club?
    A:Yes we have the largest day dive boat in the Bahamas with brand new equipment and the latest in technology that is crewed by a very professional staff. The boat has a glass- bottom so that non-divers can enjoy the wonders of the waters of Bimini, as well as sunset cruises. Call the reservation office for more details.

    Q:Is there a spa on the property?
    A:Currently there is not a facility at the property. However the property can arrange a massage in your guest room by one of the expert masseuses on island.

    Q:Is there a dress code?
    A:Bimini is very casual but most restaurants require shirts, shoes and no tank tops for service. During the day, please remember to use sun screen if exposed to the sun.

    Q:Does the hotel have room service?
    A:Not at this time but food can be taken from the restaurant to your hotel room.

    Q:Is there shopping on the island?
    A:The Big Game Club has the Outfitter Store that has all of the latest clothing from Bimini Big Game Club Resort & Marina, as well as fishing supplies, bait and sundries. There is also Sue and Joy’s liquor store on property. Just a short walk from the resort there is the Bimini Craft Center that has 17 stalls offering authentic Bahamian clothing and products. Most stores are open from 9 am till 9 pm.

    Q:Is there a bank on island?
    A:No, but there is an ATM at the Casino at Resorts World.

    Q:Is there a post office on island?
    A:Yes there is but the postal service is rather slow. There is also a DHL agent on island for 2 day shipping.

    Q:Are there churches on the island?
    A:Bahamians are very religious and there are many denominations and churches on the island. The hotel staff can give you directions and hours of the services, which are also listed in the guest room directory.

    Q:Can I get married in Bimini at the Club?
    A:Yes. You must be in the Bahamas at least 24 hours before the wedding, and meet other license application requirements, explained in more detail in the Wedding section of our website.
