A:Bimini is approximately 50 miles east of the Miami / Fort Lauderdale coastline and is the closest island in the Bahamas to the US mainland. GPS Coordinates are 25 degrees 43.34 North/ 79 degrees 17.45 West.

A:Bimini is actually 2 islands, with South Bimini where the airport is and North Bimini, where the Big Game Club is located in Alice Town where most of the commercial and government businesses are located. North Bimini is approximately 7 miles long and 700 feet wide.
Q:What is the temperature in Bimini?
A:In the winter the day time temperatures are in the upper 70s during the day and lower 70s at night, and in the summer the upper 80s during the day and lower 80s at night.
Q:What form of identification do I need to visit Bimini, Bahamas?
A:All visitors must have a valid and up to date passport.
Q:Is there a departure tax?
A:Yes there is. If not already included in your airline ticket, cost is $25.00 per person payable in cash.
Q:How do I get from the Bimini Airport to the Big Game Club Resort?
A:Once you exit the terminal building there are taxi vans waiting that will take you to the ferry dock on South Bimini, you then will board a water taxi that will drop you off at the Big Game Club Resort dock. The cost of the combined transfer $7 per person, payable in cash and takes approximately 10 minutes.
Q:What is the depth of the entrance to the harbor?
A:Depending on tide, it is generally between 8 and 12 feet in depth. You can call the Big Game Club on the ship to shore radio on Channel 9 to get advice and directions before you enter the harbor.
Q:If I am coming over by boat, how do I clear in Bimini?
A:Once you enter the Bimini channel you must raise your “yellow quarantine flag”. Once docked at the Bimini Big Game Club Marina, the Dockmaster will give you the proper paperwork to be completed. Then the Captain of the vessel can proceed to the customs office located on property. The passengers must remain on the boat until the vessel has been cleared.
Q:Is there fuel at the Big Game Club?
A:No, but fuel is available 1/8 of a mile south of the Big Game Club Marina.
Q:What kind of currency is there?
A:The Bahamas has its own currency which is on par with the US dollar but US currency is accepted everywhere.
Q:Do you accept credit cards?
A:The Big Game Club accepts Master Card, Visa, American Express.
Q:How large is the Big Game Club?
A:We’re a boutique style resort with 51 guest rooms, suites and cottages with 75 boat slips on a 3.5 acre property.
Q:Are there connecting rooms?
A:Yes, the majority of the Standard Rooms and all the Cottage Rooms connect. The Penthouse Suites do not.
Q:Is there air-conditioning at the Big Game Club?
A:Yes, all of the accommodations are air-conditioned and can be individually controlled for your comfort.
Q:Do the guest rooms have balconies?
A:All of the accommodations have either a balcony or patio (ground floor) with furniture so you can enjoy the view.
Q:What kind of electrical power is there?
A:The Bahamas has the same electrical power as the US, with 110 volts.
Q:What kind of bathroom amenities are in the guest rooms?
A:All have soap, shampoo, conditioner, shower caps and hair dryers.
Q:Are there laundry facilities at the resort?
A:No, but there is a coin laundry about 5 minutes’ walk from the resort.
Q:Is there a fire alarm systems in the hotel?
A:Each accommodation has a smoke detector that is wired into the fire alarm system. All of the public areas have smoke detectors or pull alarm devices in the unlikely event of an emergency.
Q:Are there medical facilities on island?
A:Yes there is a Clinic that is a 10 minute drive from the Big Game Club Resort. For major emergencies, patients are either flown to Nassau or back to the US.
Q:Are there TVs in the guest rooms?
A:Yes, each room has a 27” flat screen TV with larger ones in the Suites.
Q:Are there telephones in the guest rooms?
A:Yes for resort calls and local calls. For long distance calls, the front desk can call an international operator for you.
Q:Is there WIFI access at the Big Game Club?
A:Wifi service is provided resort wide for our guests as part of the resort fee.

A:No, but there is a computer in the lobby for guest use.
Q:How do I get around the island?
A:There are several different ways to get around: Taxis, golf cart rentals or walking.

A:Yes there are taxis on island. The Front Desk can make these arrangements for you.
Q:Can I book fishing in advance?
A:It is highly recommended that you do. The professional fishermen we work with run busy schedules are not usually available for “walk up” business. Our Reservations department can make the arrangements for you.

A:Bimini is very casual but most restaurants require shirts, shoes and no tank tops for service.

A:Yes, there is a limited menu that can be found in the guest directory.
Q:Is there shopping on the island?
A:The Big Game Club Resort has the Outfitter Store that sells logo’d Bimini Big Game Club attire, as well as sundries, liquor and beer. Just a short walk from the resort there is the Bimini Craft Center that has several stalls offering authentic Bahamian clothing and products. Most stores are open from 9 am till 9 pm.

A:Yes the Royal Bank of Canada is located a 10 minute walk south from the Club and also has an ATM.
Q:Are there churches on the island?
A:Yes, there are many denominations represented in Bimini. The Front Desk staff can give you directions and hours of the services, which are also listed in the guest directory.
